A Family Trip to Hakodate (Aug 29–31)

Hi, nice to see you again!

At the end of August, my family and I went on a 3-day, 2-night trip to Hakodate.
We called it a “late summer vacation.”
But for me, it was something more.

Hakodate is where I was proposed to a few years ago.
Sometimes I remember that moment, and I just want to go back.
It’s a quiet, special place for me.

Day 1: Arrival and the Night View

We arrived in Hakodate in the afternoon.
From the airport, we took a streetcar to our hotel.
By the time we checked in, the sun was already setting.

After dinner, we went up Mount Hakodate by cable car.
Seeing the night view was the only “event” of the day.
But it was more than enough.

The city lights below were beautiful.
Even the kids said “Wow!”
It felt like a magical start to the trip.

Day 2: Exploring Hakodate

This was our full sightseeing day.

Morning: Goryokaku

After breakfast, we visited Goryokaku.
We arrived early, so it was quiet.
We walked along the moat and went up the observation tower.

The star-shaped fort looked amazing from above.
The breeze felt nice too—almost like a picnic.

Afternoon: Red Brick Warehouses

In the afternoon, we went to the Bay Area.
There are lots of red brick buildings, shops, and cafes.
Just walking around was fun.

We had lunch at Lucky Pierrot.
Their burger was delicious—it won a national contest!

We also found a small café by chance.
The dessert was a happy surprise.
It felt like a small reward.

Evening: Yunokawa Onsen

In the evening, we relaxed at the onsen.
The kids were a bit nervous at first, but they soon enjoyed it.

From the large bath window, we could see the sea.
It was peaceful and healing.

Day 3: Morning Market and Goodbye

We planned to go straight home on Day 3.
But we had a little time, so we visited the Morning Market.

It was full of energy and fresh seafood.
We bought some souvenirs there.

…And then more souvenirs at the airport.
(Haskap sweets are a must!)

✍️ Final Thoughts

This trip was more than just a vacation.
It was a chance to walk through special memories—with my family.

The night view, the onsen, the food, and the kids’ smiles—
Everything became a warm memory in my heart.

If you want a relaxing and memorable trip, I recommend Hakodate.
Next time, I want to visit in a different season.

See you again soon!
