Restarting This Blog!
Hi, I’m Yuri.
So… this blog has been sitting here, untouched, for quite a while (oops).
Work, parenting, daily life — everything kept me busy, and even though I wanted to start writing, I never quite made it.
But finally, it feels like I might be able to reclaim a little time for myself.
So today, I’m officially starting.
What gave me that push?
A solo weekend trip to Sapporo.
It All Started With a Little Mental Noise
Work, kids, housework.
I thought I was doing just fine.
But one day I realized… I wasn’t really doing things well — I was just getting them done.
When you have too much on your plate, your feelings tend to come last.
You forget what you enjoy. You don’t even notice when you’re tired.
And that’s when I thought:
What I need right now isn’t “a quick escape.”
It’s a moment to truly pause — just for myself.
So, This Weekend I Went to Sapporo
I didn’t have any grand plans.
There wasn’t a must-see spot or a goal I needed to check off.
All I wanted was… time where I didn’t have to rush.
Space to actually feel things again.
While I was aimlessly scrolling around on Google Maps, I noticed a long strip of green right in the middle of Sapporo city.
That was Odori Park — and that’s where I decided to go.
Here’s How the Day Unfolded
This was my Saturday, from the moment I arrived:
09:00 – Left the hotel and headed for Odori Park. The sky felt big, and I could finally breathe deeply.
09:30 – Zoned out near the flower beds. I caught the subtle scent of lilacs.
10:30 – Took a break at a nearby café. Honestly, I always default to Starbucks when I don’t know where to go (lol).
12:00 – Bought a simple lunch and ate alone on the grass. Quiet, easy, and just right.
14:00 – Went up the Sapporo TV Tower. Looking out over the city helped clear my head a bit.
15:30 – Found another café, took out my journal, and wrote down whatever came to mind.
18:30 – Grabbed a drink at a cozy little bistro I had bookmarked. Then wandered to a few more places for just one glass each.
22:00 – Took a slow walk back through the park. The night air felt really nice.
23:00 – Back at the hotel, quick shower, and straight to bed. Slept like a rock.

Why It Felt So Light
This trip was basically unplanned.
But strangely, I didn’t feel anxious at all — just… free.
Why?
Because I prepared only the one thing that mattered: a safe and simple place to stay.
I booked a hotel near the park. That’s it.
The rest? I left open.
That’s why:
I noticed things I hadn’t expected.
I talked to people I wouldn’t usually talk to.
I followed what I felt in the moment — not what was on an itinerary.
On Monday Morning, I Actually Felt Okay
The morning after I got back, I woke up and thought:
“Today, I can genuinely say ‘Good morning’ with a smile.”
I didn’t travel to run away from anything.
I traveled so I could come back feeling a little more whole.
Nothing in my daily life changed.
But inside, I felt just a bit stronger. A bit lighter.
That alone made it worth it.
✍️ For Anyone Who Feels a Bit Tired
A trip doesn’t need to be for sightseeing.
It doesn’t need a highlight reel.
Sometimes the best thing is simply time —
where you don’t have to care what anyone else thinks,
and you can just be kind to yourself.
That’s what this Sapporo trip gave me:
a quiet reset button I didn’t know I needed.
So don’t focus on the destination.
Focus on how you want to feel.
Make a small plan — just enough to feel safe —
and let the rest unfold naturally.
That alone might be enough to help you start again.
At least, that’s what I believe.
☕ Closing Thoughts
Now that I’ve found just a bit more breathing room,
I’m already wondering where I’ll go next.
Maybe travel is less about getting away —
and more about finding your rhythm again.
Through this blog, I’d love to share those quiet in-between moments,
the ones that make ordinary life feel just a little bit better.
If you ever feel like it, I hope you’ll drop by again.
